On February 13th at 7pm, Dennis Hale will tell his amazing story of survival at the Kirtland Public Library
Hale is the sole survivor of a Great Lakes shipwreck. In 1966 he was a crew member on the freighter Daniel J. Morrell when it split in two on Lake Huron and sank.
Despite terrible odds, Hale survived 38 hours in an open life raft in a winter gale with just a bit of frostbite on his feet.
Three other crew members were in the life raft with him and they succumbed to hypothermia.
For years, Hale wouldn't discuss the events and questioned wy he lived while 28 others died. Now he has written about his experience and will share it with us.
